The Taylor Companies Wins Pillar Award for Sustainable Practices

Award Caps Year of "Green" Recognition for Ohio's Oldest Company

BEDFORD, Ohio, Dec. 7, 2011 - The Taylor Companies has been awarded the 2011 Medical Mutual Pillar Award for Sustainable Practices. This award closely follows two national honors earned this year by Taylor recognizing its valuable contributions to both the economy and the environment.

The Medical Mutual Pillar Award for Community Service, presented by Medical Mutual of Ohio and Smart Business, honors businesses of all types and sizes that make outstanding contributions to their community. Its purpose is to encourage a charitable environment, recognize creative efforts that make a difference and demonstrate the ties between the for-profit and nonprofit worlds.

"Integrating sustainable practices into the company business model is now a key initiative across all industries," said Taylor CEO Jeff Baldassari. "As a result, there is a triple bottom line value that extends beyond primary products and services to stakeholders, which includes community members.

"We are grateful for this recognition from Medical Mutual and Smart Business Magazine. Looking forward, we are further motivated to play a role in making Cleveland a green city on a blue lake."

Earlier this year, Taylor was named the Green Plus Sustainable Enterprise of the Year, the top honor at the North American Sustainable Enterprise Awards from Institute for Sustainable Development. Most recently, Taylor was honored with a 2011 SJF Green Jobs Award, a program that celebrates privately-held U.S. businesses for their contribution to environmental quality, the quality of their jobs and benefits, the diversity of employment opportunities and their level of community engagement.
